Faculty Dana Sawyer

Dana Sawyer, Professor of Academic Studies, has been nominated for a National Grawemeyer Award in the category of religion for his most recent book, Huston Smith: Wisdomkeeper. As a result of this very prestigious nomination, he was invited to participate in numerous conferences, including the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Salt Lake City, UT, and the Science and Non-Duality (SAND) conference in San Jose, CA. At the Parliament he led a panel discussion on “Unity within Diversity: Are the World's Religions Really All One?” At the SAND conference, Dana delivered a presentation entitled “The Perennial Philosophy and the Future of Religion” and helped interview Robert Thurman, the renowned scholar of Tibetan Buddhism, who teaches at Columbia University. Dana was also the respondent on a panel at the conference for the American Academy of Religion in Atlanta, GA, and gave lectures at the State University of New York at Middletown and Emory University in Atlanta.
