Vice President at Hasbro Toys and MECA&D Alum Brian Wilk ’95 to Chair MECA&D’s Board of Trustees; Dan Poteet to Serve as Vice Chair
Maine College of Art & Design's Board of Trustees has elected Brian Wilk ’95, a MECA&D alum and current Vice President of Hasbro Toys to chair the College’s Board of Trustees. Wilk succeeds Debbie Reed who will continue to serve on MECA&D’s Board while chairing the Marketing Committee.
MECA&D’s new President, Laura Freid, Ed.D., officially began her new role on July 1st after a decade-long tenure as CEO of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silkroad project. Her prior experience includes serving as Executive Vice President for Public Affairs and University Relations at Brown University, Chief Communications Officer at Harvard University and publisher of Harvard Magazine, and Editor and Publisher of Bostonia Magazine.
Freid said, “We are very grateful to Debbie Reed for her able leadership in stewarding MECA&D during the past three years. We are also pleased to introduce MECA&D alum Brian Wilk as the new chair of the Board.” Brian is an industry leader in game design and development and recently served as Vice Chair where he led MECA&D’s presidential search committee.
Stepping into the role of Vice Chair will be retired higher education executive Dan Poteet. Poteet brings a wealth of experience in the realm of higher ed administration, accreditation and strategic planning.
“I am eager to begin working with Brian, Dan and the entire board to advance MECA&D’s mission of educating artists and designers for a lifetime in the arts,” said Freid.
