Adam Fisher worked on the Golden Globe winner for Best Animated Feature, Missing Link from the studio LAIKA. Missing Link was also nominated for an Oscar.
Reggie Burrows Hodges, Loge
Reggie Burrow Hodges won the $25,000 Ellis Beauregard Foundation Fellowship in the Visual Arts. The Ellis-Beauregard Fellowship awards $25,000 to a Maine artist working in the visual arts and is paired with a solo exhibition at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, a scholarly publication and a gallery talk. Read more in Portland Press Herald. Burrows is currently showcasing artwork in his solo exhibition, Intersection of Color, on view at the Press Hotel through March 27, 2020.
Going Down Home with Daddy!
Daniel Minter Hon. DFA ’19 was awarded the Caldecott Honor for his illustration work on the book Going Down Home with Daddy!
Asata Radcliffe, The Black Guards... proposal
Space Gallery announced the awarded projects of its 6th annual Kindling Fund grant. MECA&D faculty grantees included Asata Radcliffe(in collaboration with Jordan Carey ’19 and Reggie Burrow Hodges, and Michel Droge MFA ’10 (in collaboration with Sarah Loftus). Alumni Marissa Sophia Schiederman Salt ’18 and staff member Laila Faitimi were granted awards as well.

The group exhibition The House of the Soul at the University of New England’s Art Gallery includes MECA&D Faculty Philip Brou, Ben Spalding MFA ’17, and Reggie Burrows Hodges. The show is on view until June 14, 2020.

Adriane Herman, Emotional Value Auction 2019
Adriane Herman received a 2020 Ellis-Beauregard Foundation Project Grant to support two upcoming Emotional Value Auctions in Eastport and Rockland of Maine.
Ling-Wen Tsai, Liminal series
MECA&D’s inaugural Resilience Week, a collaboration between MECA&D’s Students of Color Coalition and the Diversity Committee, featured the exhibition Resilience of Diversity with the intent to broaden the narrative of artists of color. Faculty included Reggie Burrow Hodges, Daniel Minter Hon. DFA ’19, Asata Radcliffe, Ben Spalding MFA ’17, and Ling-Wen Tsai.
Seth Rogoff was interviewed by Kenneth Pruitt of The Rumpus about his book, Thin Rising Vapors. Rogoff also successfully defended his dissertation at the University of Amsterdam.
Julie Poitras Santos, Walking the forest...
Julie Poitras Santos’ has work in the exhibition, Temporality: The Process of Time, at the CMCA. Her poem, Sharpshooter, was recently published in the Portland Press Herald.
Joshua Reiman, David Lee Rothko...
Joshua Reiman was awarded a 2020 Media Arts Fellowship from the Maine Arts Commission. Reiman currently has a video included in CMCA’s virtual/online group exhibition Simulacrush.
