First Year Experience Common Read
We are pleased to announce that the AY 2021-2022 Maine College of Art & Design First Year Experience Common Read will be Goodbye, Again. Additional information about the book, events, and programming opportunities will soon be announced.
FYE Common Read Book
In Goodbye, Again essays, reflections, and illustrations offer a series of hellos and goodbyes, an easily relatable pattern of visits and departures to be celebrated and mourned and meditated upon. Patience, attentiveness, illumination: Sun writes that many of the same qualities that help one care for a common houseplant can be equally important when creating art or maintaining one’s mental health. This will be a year of many new hellos; you will say goodbye to former versions of yourself as well. We all will, together.
While the entire MECA&D community is encouraged to participate in the FYE Common Read, we have assigned Goodbye, Again to all first year students to explore during the summer. Several additional copies of the book are available in the library.
