Annie Wadleigh has worked at MECA&D in the Advancement Office for over 13 years. She is also a writer and artist who publishes under the pseudonym Annie Seikonia and has been drawing and writing stories, poems, journals, and essays since she was 11. She has a degree in English Literature from the University of Southern Maine and formerly worked as an editorial assistant and writer for Maine independent newspapers Casco Bay Weekly and the Maine Times. She is the founder of Portland Pollinator Partnership, a local community organization that seeks to expand pollinator habitat.

  • In 2012, her short story Graywolf:  A Romance was included in Novel Strategies: Developing Reading Effectiveness with Literature by Chae Sweet, a college textbook published by Pearson Education.
  • In 2013 her work was published in Structo, a literary review published in print and online in the U.K.

Extracurricular

Annie adores animals and lives with two rescued cats named Reynard and Lyra and a rescued dog named Gypsy. A Certified Therapy Dog, Gypsy is an Australian Shepherd/Sheltie mix and goes to Maine Medical Center twice a month with Annie to visit patients.   Annie is also a voracious bibliophile and cinephile, and occasionally practices cartomancy.
