Incoming Student Live On Requirement

In an effort to provide our undergraduate students with the best experience possible and help them be academically and personally successful, Maine College of Art & Design has a live-on requirement for all full-time, first-time MECA&D students. We established this requirement because of the many benefits living in the residence halls provides students, especially during their first year at college.

Students first enrolling in the fall are required to live in the residence halls during the fall and spring semesters. Students first enrolling in the spring are required to live in the residence halls during the spring semester.

Students may request an exemption from this requirement for a variety of reasons by clicking here.

Returning Students

Returning students participate in the Housing Selection Process in the Spring semester for placement in the following Fall semester.  Most students get to pick their room with their choice of roommates.  For those that do not get to choose right away, we add them to a waitlist and get them into housing as rooms open up.  MECA&D guarantees housing for any returning student who signs a Waitlist Contract. We may not be able to place students into an assignment till the summer, but we will make sure everyone has MECA&D housing if they choose that option.
