Shiva previously worked for the University of Maine System, where she was Director of Off-Campus Library Services for the past three years. Shiva led several innovative online initiatives. Prior to her employment in the University of Maine System, she worked for Credo Reference, consulting with academic libraries around the world to create and design information literacy materials. Shiva has also worked in the areas of trauma advocacy and counseling, K-16 student achievement, homeless advocacy and arts programming. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and a Bachelor of Arts in Gender Studies from the University of California-Riverside, and a Master of Library and Information Science with a focus on print and digital preservation from San Jose State University. She also freelances as an instructional designer.
