Charles Melcher earned his MFA in graphic design at Yale University School of Art to broaden and amplify his experience of making ideas come to life in visual form, following the completion of a BFA in photography from Massachusetts College of Art. His first professional connection to communication comes from his experience teaching creative writing. He has exhibited his photography nationally and internationally. Charles continues to do commercial and personal photography, teach writing and, together with his wife, Margo Halverson, a professor of graphic design at MECA&D, manage Alice Design Communication, an award‐winning graphic design studio. Recent project include redesigning the identity for Castle Hill Truro Center for the Arts. In 2013, Charles and Margo led a collaboration of internationally known professional graphic designers, MECA&D design faculty, and MECA&D Graphic Design majors in a charrette that resulted in the creation of a new MECA&D logo.
