Almost every wall in the Porteous Building is an opportunity for exhibiting art.
One of the ways we provide support to artists is by allowing students to display artwork throughout the year on any of our six floors. Hanging work, displaying a sculpture, participating in a performance art piece, or showing a video on loop are some of the many possibilities explore in exhibitions. The process of signing out a space is done through the support of the exhibitions staff, located in the Institute of Contemporary Art.
Located on the first floor of the college, The Institute of Contemporary Art (comprised of the Lunder Gallery, Evans Hunt Gallery, and the William Sloane Jelin Gallery), Artists at Work Exhibition Space, Edward M. and Carole J. Friedman Gallery, and Zand Head Gallery all exhibit artwork from established and emerging artists. Through our Alumni Opportunities, we host a number of exhibitions and events for alumni to display and sell artwork. Alumni exhibits are rotated year-round in the Charles C. Thomas Gallery, located on the second floor in the Admin Center. Every year, we give students the opportunity to show work through our BFA Exhibition, Merit Scholarship Competition, and our BFA & MFA Thesis Exhibitions.

Charles C. Thomas Gallery
MECA&D has openings for exhibitors in the Charles C. Thomas Gallery in the Administrative Center at MECA&D. The Gallery was named for a former Board of Trustees member who served from 1993 to 2005 and was an exemplary and generous leader, friend, and advocate for the College. The Thomas Gallery consists of a hallway with 76 linear feet of wall exhibition space, it is suitable for 2D work only. Alumni interested in submitting work for consideration can contact Isabelle O'Donnell '17 at isabelle.odonnell@meca.edu or 207.699.5018.
