At Maine College of Art & Design (MECA&D) we are committed to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environment. Our vision and core values include being agile, inclusive, supportive, and transformational.
MECA&D is committed to Social Change, Racial Justice, and Inclusion. As a community, we are committed to addressing seen and unseen structures, systems, practices, and traditions of bias in all forms so that everyone in our community can participate fully and actualize their creative potential. By living these values The College aspires to cultivate artists and designers who are true agents of change and connect our community to the world in meaningful ways.
As students/faculty/staff we are ALL responsible for:

This diversity compact is meant to inform all areas of the College. It will inform our programming, training, research, shared reads, curriculum, events, nomenclature, and systems of governance. The diversity compact will help to transform board, faculty, staff, and student policies using design thinking, critical race theory, and best practices toward social change, racial justice, and inclusion.
