Facilities

Located in the heart of the Arts District in downtown Portland, Maine College of Art & Design occupies the 150,000 square foot Porteous building, a former department store built in Beaux-Arts style. Visual Arts students gain the experience of working in fully equipped studios with professional artists. Some students will have Figure Drawing Class in the large drawing studios at 380 Cumberland, a block and a half from our main Porteous Building.

Students will live in MECA&D Residence Halls. Students also enjoy the MECA&D Café, a full service food program with traditional, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

Due to new social-distancing requirements, MECA&D has maintained socially-distanced classrooms, a campus-wide mask ordinance, increased hand-washing, and campus-wide weekly testing to ensure a safe space for all.
