The Belvedere Fund for Professional Development in the field of crafts at Maine College of Art & Design was established in 2008 following the death of Deborah Pulliam of Castine, Maine and is available to all alumni who received a BFA degree from Maine College of Art & Design within the last 10 years. Deborah was a lover of history, land preservation, animal welfare and the arts, and she supported many causes generously throughout her life.

Funds are used to support the enhance the professional and studio practice of an artist.

The selection committee was comprised of Maine College of Art & Design faculty members Nikki Rayburn (Woodworking and Furniture Design) and Bukola Koiki (Textile / Printmaking), Dietlind Vander Schaaf of Maine College of Art & Design’s Institutional Advancement department, Ian Anderson, the Dean of the Academic Affairs and ceramicist Ayumi Horie, a member of the craft community.

The 2018 awardees are Emily Rogstad '13 and Melinda Aste '17. Rogstad will use her $1380 to upgrade the ventilation system in her metalsmithing studio. Aste will us her $1,499 towards the purchase of a desktop CNC system to accelerate her product experimentation with woodworking.
