Partners from all over Portland, including the City of Portland, Catholic Charities, Opportunity Alliance, Preble St, and ILAP banded together to support the exhibition Art in Exodus in the front window of MECA&D in celebration of World Refugee Day, celebrated annually on June 20th. The event was launched with a festival at Deering Oaks Park on June 13th. The family friendly event brought people together from all over the community to engage in a community dialogue using sidewalk chalk, participatory events, henna, music, dance, and food. The exhibit ran from June 3-June 20 and featured selected works by Ali Shakir Alasadi, Eslaerides Ruiz, and Nawar Al Obaidi.
