MECA&D is proud to welcome Steve Bowden '97 into the role of Director of Marketing and Communications. Steve brings over 20 years of experience in design, art, education and marketing. After earning his BFA from MECA&D in 1997, Steve was awarded an artist in residency at Benetton’s Fabrica in 1998. He then moved to New York where his work with The Chopping Block (for Phish, MoMA & Miramax) was included in the National Design Triennial In 2003. Steve received his MFA in 2D at Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2005 and moved back to NYC working as Art Director for BUILT NY. He made the move back to New England with his family in 2007 and managed Timberland's online presence in the U.S. and Europe. He was awarded an Artist In Residency at the Jan Van Eyck Academie in 2013 and invited to join DesignInquiry’s Board of Directors in 2019.

Steve has actually come and gone as an adjunct faculty member in MECA&D's Graphic Design Department since 2001. He has also taught across many programs in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Last year, he facilitated class projects in partnership with the Marketing Department and was hired to implement MECA&D’s Be Seen initiative "Project Project." He recently collaborated with the MECA&D Made Committee to launch the College’s first online sales platform for students, faculty, and alumni. As someone who has experienced the full life-cycle of MECA&D (student, alum, and faculty) we look forward to welcoming Steve’s ideas, expertise, and point of view to this crucial full-time staff position and we celebrate the bridge he will provide to faculty, students, and MECA&D’s academic departments.
