Last in, First Out
Alex grew up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In 2014, after graduating from college, Alex felt like his life was in danger, so he fled the Congo, came to the US, and applied for asylum. He has been waiting for his asylum case to be heard since then. And now, because of the way the government is currently processing asylum applications, Alex is going to have to wait a lot longer.
Artist Bio
Leta grew up on North Haven, a small island off the coast of Maine. After graduating from Duke University and living in Northern France, she returned to North Haven and carried out an audio oral history project about her hometown. At Salt, Leta told stories of a local diner, the director of a youth program in Washington County, and an asylum seeker from the Congo. She loves anything French, meandering walks, and the ocean.
